Downclock CPU when ldling overnight/at work

It's been so long since i have done any overclocking so i am out the loop regarding this issue but i currently leave the PC switched on 24/7 for it to run certain games/programs so i'm wonder if there is any good software that i can use which can down clock the CPU to a certain setting instead of it running at 4.2ghz when i'm not at home? also would like to have a certain profile setting that enables via a hot-key, i do know that windows power plan can be changed via the CPU minimum usage but i don't think that can change the CPU frequency as well.

Unless you turned off the power saving settings in the BIOS, setting the Windows power profile plan to balanced/power saver will clock the CPU down.
