am getting some slow download speeds - from certain sites - anyone know of a good DA? i used to use DAP+ with my pc laptop but the mac version deosnt really seem to work

im on a 4mb connection and i know i should be getting more than 100k a sec

No idea I'm afraid. Don't understand how these programs work though. Anybody care to enlighten me as to how a piece of software could speed up your internet connection? Does it just block other traffic such as software updates etc?

I'm not sure, but I think they 'hammer' the server so you get more requests granted or something...and can get your IP address blocked sometimes.

Chances are that the connection speed from wherever you're dling from is being throttled, 100kbps is not exactly slow either...

yea could be my isp

i mean im paying for 10mb and only getting 100k - tbh that feels pretty slow to me - should be getting at least 700ish

am with virgin media on cable broadband - do you know of them capping your badwidth at certain times in the day?

The idea with these things is instead of download one instance of the file, it'll start downloading lots of different parts of it, then stick it back together once it's downloaded. I only ever found a use for it back on dial-up, or low speed DSL.

Maybe the server which yur downloading off can not provide the full speed of your connection. Not every website will max your connection out :).

Yea, I also read something about ISPs throttling connections during peak hours and connections of people that dlownload a certain amount in a given time, regardless of the type of contract. I don't remember which ISPs exactly...it was on bbc, I'll try find the link.
