Download full WoW instead of waiting for the disk?

is it possible to download the full retail version of WoW (obviously having paid for it in some way) instead of having to order it and wait a billion weeks? I've seen they're doing a free 10-day trial now, can I download the retail version after that? I've read through the site and I can't find anything to confirm this/not, as the case may be. If anyone's got any links, that'd be gravy.

I think you can just use the trial client to play the game after you get an account.

As for the account itself, some people in a guild I was in once were talking about a place online where you could get a code to use to create an account (by paying via CC/debit and they'd mail the code to you).

As for how safe that is, i'll leave that to you, might be worth looking into though. :)
 
The trial and retail version is exactly the same as far as I know. If you register for a trial account it mails you a link to download the full game.. takes a while though :)
 
pick up a trial cd from the high street, can be had for £2

10 day trial, but comes with the full client on the dvd.

If you have orderd the cd version, do what i did and put the 5 cd's onto 1 dvd, makes the install a lot and i mean a lot easier. :D
 
However, it costs £24 for the download version of the expansion whereas it can be had for £9.99 at a very popular online games store. :>

Bear in mind that the WoW downloader is some kind of dodgy P2P app.

I tried to install the free trial a while ago but I got utterly fed up waiting for it to download, it was like 50k/sec on a 10mbit connection not to mention whoring my upload to boot.

So in that case you goto File > Preferences, and disable peer to peer.. Im downloading it as i type this maxing my connection speed =]

I tried that and it wouldn't download anything at all :)

Guess it could be fixed now though, this was several months ago.
