I never buy download games before and always buy games that comes with the discs. Just wondering if we be able to put the games on the disc for our own copy?

Thanks

i dont think you can, but why would you want to

they are always there for you to download again if you need them

do you still have your music collection on CD or mp3?

with steam u can take it anywhere on any pc afaik.

hard copies of your steam game, i dont think anyone has asked that before... im fairly certain its not possible atm.

With steam you can right click> Backup local content and put it onto a cd/dvd like that. Pretty sure that gives you a .exe file to install later. Just checking if Impulse does this as well.

edit: regarding the above, you can download from any computer in the world as many times as you like. Just install steam/Impulse, login and it gives you a list of your games. Right click and download, and thats it.

I do actually :D

So i can download anytime i want? The reason because i always like having the hard copy myself :D

Like iviv says, you can use the backup option built into Steam, or alternatively, you can just copy you Steam folder to your backup device.

To restore, copy the Steam folder back to your PC and run the Steam setup app, making sure you point the installation directory to the folder you just copied back onto your PC. Enter your Steam login info, and that's it.

Yes, on Steam backup you get a setup exe. Quite a nice system really.
I do this a lot by buying and downloading my games at work to save my "peak usage" allowance on my isp in the evening, and take the games home on pen or burnt DVD.

So i get the .exe files which allow me to install the game and also do i get the key or the key built into the .exe file?

Could somebody confirm do we get .exe file frmo impulse, if not how do i install it?

Thanks

I'm just checking impulse by archiving my demigod install. But in Impulse, there is a 'restore archive' option in the menu, so its either going to be an exe, or you just select that option and point it to the archive location.

Impulse download speeds have been limited by my connection so far.. downloaded it twice (windows reinstall), both times at a continuous 1.63MB/s

With such decent digital delivery systems, I can't see the need for physical media whatsoever - the only game I've bought boxed recently was because I can't abide EA's download manager.

With impulse, when you've got a game installed, you can right click and select 'archive application'. It'll take a few minutes for impulse to pack the game up, but you'll end up with a large .impulse file. It doesn't have any association, so you need to go into impulse, hit the orb in the top left, and select 'Restore archive'.
Not as clean as Steam's method, especially as Steam gives you the option of making the backups fit to CDs or DVDs and the like, and gives you an exe to run, but its better than nothing.
