Just tried this and it started out at 2.02MB/Sec and then went like this:
1.71 MB/Sec
1.48 MB/Sec
1.50 MB/Sec
1.30 MB/Sec
1.29 MB/Sec
1.27 MB/Sec
1.18 MB/Sec
1.15 MB/Sec
1.11 MB/Sec

Leveled off at 1.09MB/Sec :s

Hmm strange mine stayed at 2.02mb all the way through :confused:

Possibly a stupid Q but would anyone recommend Recovering the PC in the hope it will sort it???

Plus when I open up web browsers, they take ages to open up :@ lol

Yep, several times, I've also tried ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew.
The first time i released the ip and renewed, it was about 60ms ping, but then went back to 311ms ping within a few mins :s
 
This sounds exactly the same problem that I had with Virgin 20mb. After several call outs the network team pinpointed it to a broken amp in the box at the end of the road. Was getting very slow speeds and packet loss. When the new one went in it was back to normal.
 
OK, Just ran 5 speed tests, and had NO applications running. Closed down MSN, Winamp, Qtime, Etc to elimate any possibilities, now can someone please explain why i'm getting these results...

Check the download and the server...something is defo NOT right...

well i had engineers out and there was nothing the matter with my line
virgin are lowering most websites to 20kbs

i had the same problem with virgin speed was all over the place
speedtest websites showed my speed was 15mb but surfing the internet
was a joke and trying to watch youtube videos.

my 4mb adsl B.E is faster for surfing, watching youtube and many other sites
i was having problems with virgin media.

I had to have several "engineers" out who all said it was fine until I went mental on the phone and got a proper network guy out who found the problem straight away.

Now my connection is lightning fast even during peak times.
 
i thionk youll find even if you havnt downloaded 3gb plus between 4pm and 9pm for some reason a lot of VM 20mb customers are still being capped at 5mb and when you ring up they say 20mb is not guaranteed.

Now the best way to test the speed is newsgroups.....always over 1.5mb/s here and all the above links always give me slow speeds when newsgroups are always between 15mb and 20mb connection
 
Sounds odd to me, I had alsorts of trouble with bt,tiscali and a cable provider I had trouble with till i had someone go look at the box down the street. Mine are kinda bad at the moment with
