Hi,

Is it normal for cpu temp to increase while downloading? Also while connecting to ftp

yeah depends how much,the data will be written to the hdd so id guess the cpu would work harder

Lots of small files that add up to 4 or 5 gb every 30 mins

It depends what you call an increase, 3-4°C or 20°C?

Also depends on what you're using to download with.

I'm using filezilla to send files to an original xbox. At least 20c

no idea with amd cpu's but 20c rise isn't too bad i suppose

if it drops down in temps after downloading completes then you can say its to do with that

I find it suprising.

Can you recommend a good thermal paste and am3 cooler?

im not uptodate on the smaller budget coolers but this seems decent for the money

as for paste id use some mx4

20c seems about right if your using the stock cooler


EDIT: as for cpu cooler make sure it will fit inside your case,measure from mb to edge of side panel

Its 35c normally but reached 60c while ftp'ing

id say normal for stock cooler,they are pretty poor,but temps are still acceptable

if you open task manager/performance you'll see how much cpu usage there is while downloading
