Download Youtube in HD?

Hi,

Which program is best for downloading Youtube videos in HD and is free?

Can I also convert them into music files later?

There are a couple of Firefox plugins I used to use - a quick search should show them up. IIRC I then used Handbrake to convert them to mp4 (from flv).

I've got Download helper, didn't realize it was installed lol.

How do I download in HD though? Windows is saying the resolution is a lot smaller than 720/1080p when I've saved them.

Choose the 720p/1080p link? If its not there, its not available in 720p/1080p. Only a relative few are.

Remux them to MP4 with Avidemux if they're still FLV (flash video) format. Use YAMB to remove the video from the MP4 if you just want audio and demux to AAC or remux to MP4 and rename the file extension to M4A if thats your beef.

Only thing I miss about FF as the ones on Chrome are nowhere near as good.

FastestTube for Opera/Chrome is better than DownloadHelper IMO
