I'm at work and require an image editor to make a quick diagram for a presentation, it's urgent and requesting software through the proper method takes an age.

We are still on Windows 2000 (Vista testing taking forever) so the likes of Photoshop CS4 trial doesn't work.

Can anyone recommend an application which can do some simple editing of images? Paint doesn't quite cut it...

this may sound stupid, but if CS4 don't work, could you not just try cs3 trial or an older version of Photoshop

Edit - What about GIMP, never used it myself though...

yeah I tried some older versions but couldn't find any trustworthy links for them, a couple I tried had dodgy executables. I'll check out gimp, forgot about that one

gimp did the trick, cheers

it's actually better than I remembered, with the use of layers etc like PS

Gimp is great IF you can get it to work and IF you can remember how the stuff works differently from PS.

No matter how many installs I always get one error at least when loading up and I am always having to look up how to do stuff in it

gimp is good if you dont know photoshop very well, it can be a bit weird to use if you do. a very advanced bit of free software tho

I'm a photoshop die hard but it was quite easy to get used to gimp 2 :) (didn't try any advanced techniques though)
