Downloading another windows manager for Ubuntu 10.04?

You dont need to install anything but the window manager, kdm or whatever will allow you to choose another session when you're logging in

Couldn't tell you I don't run ubuntu or KDE, afaik though KDE comes with its own network applet. Does ubuntu use ALSA or pulse or what?

My sound is ok now. Realy, I can't find the network app. Plus, it makes me log in, but since *buntus only ask for the root account info on install, I have to log it with that is that safe? The admin tools don't ask for a pass. then.

If you like it light and responsive you could always give openbox or xfce a shot, there's a bunch of cool tiling window managers about too, so much to choose from!

Incidentally, has anyone ever tried a tilling wm? I'm currently experimenting with Arch (tried e17, settled on XFCE for the minute) and i'm considering giving one a go. Any suggestions?

What files should I get for XFCE? Plus some one said XFCE won't work past kernel 2.6.31 on the ubuntu forum, I don't think that is true. Wow, maybe the kernel thing is true, it boots right into Gnome with out giving a choice.
