Hi all,
so i can use blackberry appworld to download/install an app to a device that is attached to the pc, but i need to be able to actually download the app to a folder, so i can then create a deployment policy in BESX to push the app out to the 30 devices we have.
appworld only allows direct install via the browser to the attached device, which defeats the purpose of deployment really.
The only other way i can find is if the device user logs into appworld with my credentials and install the app directly to their device, which again defeats the object.
I can find tuts on how to deploy apps, but none cover actually getting hold/downloading the app, and that's what i need help on.

eg. whatsapp....available on appworld, but i need to download the install components (as a zip file apparently) so i can then point the software policy to it.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Not sure if it's the same as with when I used to deploy apps using BES, but you had to get the ALX files for the app, zip them up then create a policy to push them out.

It was a pain getting the apps in ALX format for most of them, you can create your own ALX though if you've got some other form of the software but it's been a while since I've done it.

Basically it can be a real pig to get done if it's still done this way.

I think you can just browse to the appworld via a pc and web browser and then just save as the app. Which app is it?

I deployed a bespoke email archive app via the bes and that came in a zip file direct from the company who makes it.

Won't let me do it...it wants device to be attached to the pc so it can install directly to it.

I want to deploy whatsapp and the wireless activation for besx to all devices.
