Downloading emails through thunderbird

I seem to find that when downloading emails through thunderbird it seems soo slow compare to like outlook express why is this please? Or is there somthing wrong? I have a 8mb broadband and i expect it to download pretty fast. I have tried it through express and they download FAST much faster than thunderbird

Any tips

Odd. That shouldn't be the case. However I do know one odd thing about Thunderbird is when I send an e-mail to myself using this client, I will never receive the e-mail.

Although if I login to the web-based mail, and send it to myself, I can receive it in Thunderbird.

Sorry if that didn't help, just sharing my problem with this client too! But the speed shouldn't vary with Outlook or Thunderbird =/
