Guys i have some web space with easily.co.uk, i have had it for years but never really used it.

What i could do with doing now is being able to upload lets say pdf files, then allowing my customers to download the files, via a link sent to them via email or perhaps via some sort of web page.

Your thoughts, ideas and help much appreciated.

Phil

depending how many people might download then it's not worth the risk lol

920 files a month should be alright.

are you sure you still have access to it?

It will not be that many TBH it is just a sales brochure that we can send out in advance, about 10-20 a month.

yes i still have access to it.

What are you asking exactly?

You know your business better than we do :)

Sorry thought i was clear on that :o

This bit is easy, i can ftp to the web space.

then allowing my customers to download the files, via a link sent to them via email or perhaps via some sort of web page.

This is the bit i am not sure how to go about. I would prefer to let them just have a link to the file, but Easily insist that i would have to do it via a web page, one that i would have to design, this is not to big a deal but what sort of code is needed to access the files.

So they've explicitly said they won't allow direct requests or hotlinking? Try it, upload a file and see if you can download it directly by typing the URL in your browser.

Just tried that, i have to put in the user name and password.

Utter madness IMO.

How can i get round this, any ideas.

Is this a service you pay for?

It is yes, i bought the virtual space about 5 years ago hence the small amount of storage space, i only pay £20 or so a year for it.

Might as well bin when it comes up for renewal.

But in the mean time i just need to be able to upload and hotlink the file for occasional download.

Appears i was wrong, and the Easily support staff have not got a bl**dy clue either.

PDF
Should get the test brochure i just up loaded.

Could you please test the link for me.
