Am I in for a treat?

I completed HL2 the other day and feel a little lost without it!

Shame it's only coming in at about 50kB/s... gonna take ages. Damn steam. :(

Am I to understand Episode 2 is not too far away either? :)

Episode 2 *should* be out for christmas.

Episode 1 is a fantastic add on, but don't expect it to last you very long. It's short, but sweet, as it's pretty much got all the best bits from Half-Life 2 in it bar any vehicle control.

Ep 1 is superb, its like a rollercoaster ride that never lets up. People complain that it was short, yet with Ep1, its a matter of sheer quality over quantity.

Took me 3.5 hours to complete, and I didnt exactly take my time about it either!

You wont be disappointed, and Ep2 is looking to be even better still.

I completed it in one sitting. Very gripping, but overpriced in the shops.

Dog doesn't feature enough either. :(

I liked Ep1. Liked it enough to play through it again with the commentary - some interesting stuff and you get an insight into the whys and hows.

It was however a little over-priced. I happily paid the money, then when it ended I was like "rip-off!". I think Valve need to sort out how much they charge because if Ep2 is going to be the same price I may be inclined to leave it.

It feels like paying full price for only half a film.

I read on a website that I can't recall that one of the developers said in an interview that HL2 EP2 will be longer than EP1 but not as long as HL2. Sounds good. Now bring on F.E.A.R. Extraction Point.

I still haven't got round to playing EP1, is it really that short? :( May do it one evening when I have nothing else to do then heh

It is short compared to HL2. Depends if your one of those people who rush through a game and miss out on many other aspects and hidden treasures. I take my time and explore everywhere. HL2 tooke me 4 days playing 3-4 hours a day. Some people did it in 1 day in less than 10 hours, what a waste! The shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line. When it comes to games I prefer to go round and explore my surrondings.

That is why steam rocks. You can buy every single valve product (and now a ton of non valve products) instantly online.

I have to say the start of episode one was just awesome. The characher interaction and scripting is just seemless. Really feel like i'm a part of the story.

Also the graphics helps too. First game thats really pushing my 7600 GT, with HDR AA and AF on it looks lush. Especially the "core" I have never seen anything like it beofre! Awesome. :)

Just playing through it now but I take my time, it will take me at least a week. I like to take it all in.

I'm going to have to play halflife 1 / bluse shift / opposing force to get more insight into the storyline.

You're not going to get much info out of the Half-Life 1 series games, regarding story etc for Half-Life 2, as without Gman, the games are pretty much unrelated, well, you'll get what I mean if you play the games anyway :p

The part of the game that I loved was the (without giving too much away) torch in the darkness part. Amazingly clever and quite fun, especially when your in a firefight and your torch dies, you start spraying everywhere cause you cant see what the hells going on. Well worth the $20 I payed for it :D
