When downloading things of the internet i always download using firefox/ie.

I loose my connection a lot of the time so the download cancels, how do i use a ftp client to download these? Ive downloaded FTP clients but not had success understanding how to use it?

Somone please help me, Thanks.

I use Smartftp and it kinda works the same as a web browser. There is a box to paste the address into and two other boxes for the username and password. However, if the site doesn't need one, then there is a box you can tick for "anonymous".

You then just click connect and it should list all the folders of the ftp. Just browse the folders like you would in Explorer and then right click on the file you want and click download. Smartftp has other options like "Download to default folder" or download to a folder of your choice.

I dunno if this helps, but if the connection cuts off in Firefox/IE, then it may happen in an FTP program.

Hmm, i only asked because i know with torrents when the connnection goes you can just start from where it lost the connection instead of starting over again. :(

Anyone else?

Just get the "Down 'em All!" extension for Firefox. Its great for por...er, videos, speeds up download speeds for me and can resume most downloads if you get disconnected or whatever. :)

As the other guys say, u realy need a download manager not an FTP client.

I use Download Accelerator for IE7

Anybody rate the add-on "DownThemAll!" for firefox? Seems okay, just im getting 170kb/s

I would recommend Flashget for a download manager. Maxs out my connection on good servers. I also just tried that FireFTP that NokkonWud recommended and it seems very good and easy to use.

I have DTA, but often find that the main sites I *** to download from don't support resumed downloading, or don't let you split it into parts and download several parts at once.

should this really be posted in the 'Games' forum?
are you trying to download games?
