Downloading WoW with game client

20 hours? on what ISDN? the games deployment servers are excellent, I can download it in about 4 hours on a 6mb connection (have downloaded it 7 times thus far due to going through laptops like hot cakes lol)

Btw you can install the entire thing off the WOTLK dvd, its much faster

I downloaded the game and both expansions rather quick. Though I'm on 50meg bb. Was getting between 4.5 - 6.0MB/s.
The thing what took time was applying the patches or something... I was getting 100KB/s then lol

yep i did a reinstall about a month ago, took nigh on 14 hours including all the patches, the downloader is a$$ when it wants to be and runs at slugpace even if you are on a good connection (i am on 10mb/s)

yeah i dont understand why they dont replace their 1 millian patches with a batch update or something. it would make loads more sense!

didnt wow get a streaming client? or did i dream it.

i know warhammer did im sure wow got one which downloads only what you need to play and then downloads the rest as you need it

On the occasions i need to reinstall i use the discs, then patch from wowwiki. The updater is so damned awful.

Ive never once had it work without the "You appear to be behind a firewall" despite all manner of port forwarding suggested by their FAQ. It's just terrible and sooooooo slow.

LOL :O lucky you having a 50meg line lol, I have a 2meg line and if im lucky i get 100kb/s, normally downloading WoW = <35kb/s so it takes a while. I used to laugh when we got broadband that i used to wait ages downloading songs on dial-up, now i spend days downloading games!
