I'm having issues with my downloads on Multiple devices. My router is an Asus RT-N66U which is running the latest firmware.

The issues i'm having are:

Android apps either not starting their download or stopping a percentage through (HTC + Samsung phones)
Steam games downloading 99% then dropping to 1byte per second (.blobs deleted etc)

I've read the stock asus firmware is good, got an N66U coming tomorrow to put on my Sky Fibre line

Or is Merlin the best?

Thanks

Stock firmware is fairly good but struggles a bit (or atleast the older versions did) of you've got people who do heavy torrenting, etc. Merlin FW has some useful performance and stability tweaks if your sharing the connection with several "power users".

Never had any downloading issues with mine but might be worth trying disabling QoS, etc. if its enabled.

Stock fw is pretty good but there are some additional features in the Merlin that makes its just a bit better, he usually base his on the latest fw any way so you still have asus latest plus his additional tweaks features.

As for the OP's download problem I don't think this will be cause by your router unless its faulty.

If you use your original BT hub only do you have the same problems?

It's worth noting a fair amount of users have issues with 374.43 so if you're going to try it, be prepared to go back to 374.41 for stability and reliability.

I might have to give this a go as for a £100+ router mine has been more unstable and generally rubbish than the £10 D-Link it replaced.
