little bit of a long one but bear with me
I've been using Downsampling on my GPU since I got it because I'm too skint to upgrade to a nice new monitor just yet. Currently I'm using a 720p screen (1360x768) and running all my games @ 1920x1080 , they all look better and most 99% of my games run above 60fps so all is well there. BF4 is another matter, I was hoping for ultra @ 60fps but currently have lower.
found this calculation online:
"Lets say your at 1080p your PC runs around 60fps for a game
At 720p your PC would run higher than that (possibly 100+ fps)
Using a 720p monitor and downsampling from 1080 would yield what as your downsampled framerate? (ugh math)
1080/720 = 1.5
1920/1280 = 1.5
1/(1.5 + 1.5) = 1/3 so a 33% loss of FPS 60-19.8 = 40.2FPS on the downsampled game."
Ok great I knew downsampling had a performance hit and have not been that worried about it. My actual question though is if I upgraded to a 1080p screen assuming I went from 720p res>1080p res what would the performance hit be roughly? and would my FPS increase at all over running downsampling
