Son wants one I sill buy him one for Xmas what's the deal with 4gb one vs 250gb version is it needed to play the games ( patches etc) or just for demos
etc?
Can u just stick in USB memory stick or USB hd to boost disc space or ms making you buy ms specific hard drives?

Please explain the pro's and cons

Well the only difference is the hard drive space and finish of the console. The 250Gb is shiny gloss black (soon to be matte) and the 4Gb is matte black.

You can plug in a USB stick for added space, up to 16Gb I believe in each slot.

Patches don't take up much space at all, demos, DLC etc will though.

Also you won't be able to install games on the 4GB so no fast loading/quieter operation.

You are better off getting the 250GB tbh.

Most of the space on the HDD is taken up by installing games. This makes them load faster, and makes the console quieter by not needing to access the disc all the time.

On a 4Gb console you'll probably be able to install 1 or 2 games at most (some are even more than 4Gb, so you may not be able to install at all) and that's not allowing for any DLC you have.

I'd definately go for the 250Gb.

On a 4GB machine you won't be able to install any games, when you say some are more than 4GB make that 95% of all games.

If your son just wants to play disk games, and doesn't want to download any excellent games and demos from live then 4gb is fine.

Pay the extra for the 250GB, or I think you'd regret it...

For example, Tales of Vesparia is quite rare on disk and fetches around £60 in auctions, but you can download it from live marketplace for £20, it is 6GB+ download though.

Get the 250 GB xbox 360 :)

It's a much better package over all, the extra space is worth the money.

If he wants a console that he can do the basics on, 4th is enough.

The second you get into DLC, XBLA, installing games etc, you're stuffed.

Chances are that your son will want to play arcade games or download full games at some point, it's worth getting the larger HDD. Also some games have a habit of crashing (forza 3 being one) and installing them makes them stable.

Another - of the 4GB xbox is that you cannot play original xbox games in backwards compatability mode. (The way the emulator works requires a hard drive, and the 4GB model does not have one, it is internal memory with an empty hard drive slot).

I have seen and wanted to play older xbox games before and it is frustrating, so go for the 250GB!

There are a number of xbox 1 games which still have awesome gameplay and the bonus is they are cheap :)
