Hey guys,
I decided to down size from a 800D down to a Lian Li PC-A06B which has been lying about for quite some time
It isn't new and has a couple of scuffs - oh well
Well firstly I installed my system in the Lian Li and that went fine without a hitch
Replaced the H50 fan with an Enermax Vegas and replaced the front case fan with the same.
Plugged it in and turned it one and a burning smell, but it booted fine
Opened my side panel and the smell seemed to come from the motherboard - turned it off and removed the motherboard and checked it out - no burn marks etc.
Seems that the smell was some old dust from inside the case as the case was not brand new.
My temps seem to have dropped quite a bit with this case, I now see why people say the 800D is not great at air cooling. Around 7-8 degrees less on CPU and 12-15 less on my GPU.
Here are a few dodgy camera pics anyway.
I didn't have enough SATA cables due to the 800D having the special 4 port ones for the hot swap. ( I threw all my spare cables away about 2 months ago) So I haven't connected all my drives yet so I haven't fully cable tidied yet.
