Downspeed in Utorrent

Have you noted which port µTorrent is using? You will need to open this if you have a firewall.

I find Slackware 11 is the fastest swarm I've seen. I downloaded at about 4 MiB/s and am uploading at about 2 MiB/s with all settings set to unlimited.bledd. said:check with a really fast torrent like a linux release -ubuntu

WHy do you guys limit up speed? It's not like it hurts your down speed.

There are some good utorrent tweak advice sites, I set my upload to 25 and I down load at 10mbps ......full bandwidth at times!!
Takes a while to get going on utorrent but tis the best by imo....azerues just hogged processes and slowed my pc down

Depends A LOT on how many torents you have active.VeNT said:

I have the PC in my sig and sometimes Az gets up to 50% CPU usage for hours at a time.
If you have loads queued - It will hog resources.
If you are patient and have a handful at any one time, it is fairly light on resources.
Still - Az gives me better speeds than uTorrent. I have the CPU & memory for a reason - As well using it.
(Az uses a JIT compiler, is not pre-compiled... Hence the high CPU usage)
Also - OP - Check the number of seeds to peers.
If there are 5 seeds, and 3000 peers, it's going to be slow. With public trackers anyway.
Try to find others with more seeds to peers - Or join a private torrent site.
with ntl and bt broadband in utorrent, i can set the upload to whatever i like and get max download speeds..
i usually have it at around 5-10 because sharing in a house with others and any higher you really start to notice speed reductions when viewing web pages etc

If you read any sites about seeting up any torrent client most will say to limit you upspeed to approx 75% of what your capable of, anything more and your downloads will actually become slower. I could find links but i have seen this so many times i know it to be true.
The problem is with pipex which i why i also left, they limit ANY P2P (inckluding skys movie download, at the time anyway) to 20k/sec now and its a joke, couple that witth the fact that new customers could get ADSLMax and exisiting customers were still waiting for free upgrades 6 month later, and you have another reason to quit.
Finally the hoff does the adverts........nail in coffin !!
