DP 1.4 Bandwidth 165hz 1440p

Is my understanding correct that in order to run 165hz at 1440p you need to use 8bit colour to avoid chroma subsampling?

So we have some choices:
165hz 10bit with chroma subsampling
144hz 10bit no subsamplling
165hz 8bit no subsamplling

If the monitor supports HBR3 (Gigabyte AORUS FI27Q-P for example) then 10-bit Full Range RGB can be used at 165Hz. Otherwise your assumptions are correct.
