hey guys,

im getting a new gpu this weekend and I currently have a HDMI side monitor and a DP main screen..is there any benefit to having the main on DP and buying a DP to HDMI cable for the side monitor?

cheers.

I lean toward displayport by default, but that's mainly because I run a TV as a second monitor and most cards only have one HDMI slot.

Saves the need for an adapter, if you only run one screen and there isn't some specific limitation you might run into via HDMI it doesn't matter. Do check your monitors manual though, sometimes (albeit rarely) you run into something weird like freesync/gsync problems or lower refresh rates even with sub 4K screens.

I thought DP offers higher resolution, refresh, etc?

It offers more bandwidth compared to HDMI depending on version, but that shouldn't really matter for most gaming screens.

The majority gamers still run 1080 to 1440P, even at high refresh rates that's rarely going to be a problem for either format.
