DP to HDMI - Max Resolution

Hi,

Hooked up my MBP to a new 29" display via DP to HDMI but looks like the max resolution output is 1920 x 1080, rather than 2560 x 1080 I need.

Is there any software update or patch for this or do I just need a mini DP to DP lead instead?

(2010 13" MBP)

Dispaly Port cable is the way i think.

According to this the first dual mode DPs were only limited to 1080p: http://www.vesa.org/news/vesa-intro...solution-interoperability-with-hdmi-displays/

Seeing as 4K support only arrived in 2013, chances are you have the old dual mode and hence why you're limited to 1080p. Would just be easier to go full DP instead.

Would a Mod mind moving this to Mac Software please?

I've had to use a free trial of SwitchResX to get my MBP to output 2540 x 1080, even with a mDP to DP cable and also disable System Integrity. Otherwise I was stuck at around 1900 x 1080 still.

Surely there must be a better solution? or is it just my hardware limitation?

Just a guess here but I assume it's probably Apple not configuring the device to run that resolution. It's not a standard resolution and as such may not be designed to scale to it.
