Not really a monitor one but here goes.
I have a 1080ti in cockpit sig rig 2(till my 3080ti arrives)
I have a new 55" LG 4k@120hz HDR gsync compatible (40-120hz) tv arriving tomorrow for it.
The 1080ti doesn't support hdmi2.1, so if i use a DP-HDMI adapter will the variable refresh still work?

Disclaimer, I know nowt about monitors and all is googled so everything I have written could be off, :P

I had a very similar problem. My 3080Ti only has one HDMI2.1 port, and the rest are DP1.4. Requirements were to drive two displays. The VAST majority of adapters don't work at all.....after days of searching I came across this one:

Took a good few weeks to arrive, but it does work great. I say great, it does 4K 120hz HDR no sweat, but with my display it comes up as g-sync but doesn't work. Talking to support, they know about it and are working on a firmware update.

You probably won't get g-sync either with the FPGA or VRR/compatible working through an adapter, even with a firmware update.
