DPC Latency Problem

Hi All,

So I put my sig rig together on Saturday and everything has run without a hitch, ssd up and running and drivers installed etc and it runs super fast.

However, in games and while listening to music I found the audio was crackling and popping every second or so I checked out DPC Latency monitor and this is what it shows all the time:

Now I know this is definitely the problem as yesterday morning I booted it up, checked the DPC monitor (which showed the above) and then ran prime95 for about 5 seconds then exited it. This fixed the problem all day brought the DPC level to a smooth 150 all day, and with no sound popping what so ever so I could actually enjoy a good days gaming.

However, booting it up this morning I find that my prime95 trick hasn't worked today and the latency is all over the place making the audio pop on both my speakers and my headset. I have tried uninstalling and re installing Realtek Audio Drivers, uninstalling USB drivers in device manager, disabling both LAN on my board, disabling HPET in the BIOS, disabling Intel 4000 Graphics and nothing has worked. Iv'e been through the device manager and disabling various things like USB hubs and DVD drivers and yet the problem persists.

Also, when the bar eventually hits into the red the box at the bottom states that it is a driver issue, but having done everything it says to do, I'm still in no better of a position.

It should be noted that the audio DPC problem arose before I overclocked so I know that isn't the culprit. Sorry for the long post and any help is really mega appreciated :)

edit: as of now, the prime95 trick has brought the DPC down to a steady 150 but I would still like to eliminate the problem

It's usually caused by a badly written driver or something like monitoring software. Do you have any Gigabyte software installed? Don't use their software overclocking/tuning suites. That stuff is usually pants.

If you can't work out the cause is just wipe and start again. Be more careful about what you install.

EasyTune might be installed, though I haven't used it as I don't need it.

Thanks for the reply :)

edit: EasyTune wasn't installed. I only have the basic stuff installed like Realtek and Creative Audio drivers and intel LAN drivers etc
