Hey Guys,

I was wondering if anyone could reccommend any good guides for DPM. I'm used to using backup exec and this doesn't seem to be . backing up to disk seems easy enough but I can't seem to get my head round tapes, it seems you cannot backup something that is already in another protection group which I kinda get so I had to added to the long term part of the job but the dataset has to go over two tapes, does DPM handle this well?

Currently the setup I'm trying to get is:
Data to tape daily on a weekly roation
Data to disk daily on a 14 day retention
Everything else to disk on a 2 day retention

An object (database/volume/VM) can only be in one protection group. The backup configuration is done on that protection group. Note i didn't mention shares. If 2 shares are on 1 volume they must be in the same PG.

So in your case jsut create 3 PGs and add whatever objects you want to have those backup characteristics.
