I had no idea DPReview were owned by Amazon, but this is a monumental loss. Is there even any website that comes close to DPReview for photography news and reviews?

There isn't.

DPreview was my go to for all things photography. Sad indeed but surprised that Amazon don't have the resources to keep it running. Maybe Elon will come and save the day

Hopefully, OCUK can start selling camera gear.

Talkphotography has a good forum, I think, but not sure about reviews and articles.

A sign of the times unfortunately and sad to see it go. Been my goto place since I bought my first digital camera. Ive based quite a few of my past purchases on what I read on DPReview and sub to their YT channel as I like Chris and Jordan as presenters.

Phones have basically killed any mass market appeal for cameras so can only imagine website visits and views have basically tanked. Such a shame.

You have to wonder how Amazon can't turn a profit from probably the largest photography website on the internet, seems a pretty sudden thing to pull as well, surely would make a better business decision to sell such a big IP than to wind it down ?

A shame that for review stuff. Forum wise, it was very American centric and felt outdated and hectic whenever I went there.
Talkphotography....you get some weird cliquey people on those forums. But then, photography forums tend to attract the same everywhere.

EDIT: Just had a quick look on the forums there and first thread I see is titled "**** YOU Smaug01!"

"LOL - Go **** yourself loser. See you on the other forum...I am mod over there so mind your manners. "

Yeah no great loss the forums.

I only really frequented the m43 forums and there were some great threads but 90% off posts were about bloody equivalence and m43 vs FF.

Ah yes, brings back memories of the 1000 post long threads of equipment envy and gear snobs claiming you can never get all the bokehs with anything less than full frame. :)

AP wiped their forums too:
