Dq-6 not sustaining power

Hi all just put set up system wil Dq6 and E6600, on switching on, everything comes on for a fraction of a second then dies, checked all the connections and they seem fine....any ideas? thanks
 
How are you starting it up? Push-button or are you putting a jumper over the pins?
 
I know its a PITA but you might want to take it out again and try it without being attached to the case and with the bare minimum connected. Just to rule out a short circuit problem as that certainly sounds like what it could be imo.
 
ok got mb out and the initial problem looked like it was due to a short. However now staying on for 5 secs before rebooting it self repeatidly....sure i read post regarding this? (edit) hmm just found thread on undervolting memory...any ideas?

The plot thickens, basically got the mb out and it posted the ram and was able to get into the bios to up the vdimm, now it boots and works perfectly outside of the case. Now everytime it goes in the case it starts rebooting itself every secs. Now im thinking short somewhere, however if insulated as much of the case as poss with electrical tape, anyone got any ideas? thanks.
 
yes i do, it actually keeps rebooting if on a cardboard surface, however if i support the board and lift it at points either side of cooler it runs fine, could it be related to cooler, any ideas? pretty sure not due to short anymore. This is driving me nuts :confused:
 
Thats what i thought, so removed everything just cpu, mem and 24 pin power cable, problem is actually arising when plugging in the 12 v 2x4 connector for cpu. if i remove it, it does not keep rebooting? is this 12v connector essential on dq-6 im lost? TIA
 
actually scratch that, just tried it again and again continued to reboot with just the 24 pin connector in, gonna send something back, question is what as its all new lol?!?
 
Exactly the same thing happened to me back in early October, or thereabouts, with my DQ6. The board would kick into life, fans spin up, hold for about 10 seconds or so, then bounce.
A quick post on this forum and someone mentioned the fact that the board often drives too little voltage through the ram (1.3 or thereabouts).
The recommended solution was to try generic ram. This, despite my Corsair XMS2 being listed on gigabyte's site as compatible.
I went for an Abit AW9D-Max instead. I figured, why take the hit on the extra, useless, ram and it may not turn out to be that and I'd be off for another mobo anyway.
Anyway, if you have some generic ram, give that a shot. If you know some other way to check or bump voltages, that'd be the best. If you happen to have another mobo lying around, try all your bits in that to rule it out.
Best of luck - apparently they're great boards for those that get them running.
