Not as popular as the DS3 or DS4 so haven't seent too many postings on this mobo.
I have a DQ6, E6700, 2 x (2 x 1 gb) G.SKILL 6400 NR
Does anyone have a DQ6 working properly? If so what memory do you have?
What did you do to make it work?
I can get it to POST with either 1 or 2 sticks of some 'old' ram without changing anything in the BIOS. :)
By changing the BIOS settings to 5,5,5,15 and upping Memory Voltage by +0.3 I can get it to post with 1 stick of G.SKILL 6400 NR, but if I install 2 sticks then it is back to the old On ... Off ... On ... Off ...etc ... etc ........
I don't want to even Overclock it at the moment - just get it to work at all.
Can anyone Help?

Have no floppy at the moment so can't upgrade (would be handy if this bios recognised USB pen drive as floppy), but have tried all combinations of slots with same results.
I think the NR is going back and I'm also wondering about RMA-ing the DQ6 and waiting for the Intel mobo due this month. There are just hundreds of people out there with similar issues on Gigabyte boards.

Have ordered the Geil and am RMA-ing the G.SKILL NR
Thanks for your help guys!
Will post a result when the RAM comes.

I had some very strange similar issues with my DQ6.

RAM I used was the Gskill PC6400 HZ and the first boot it fired up fine. I've heard that many people have had trouble with the NR and LA kits as they're not as good ICs so have trouble booting up at the default of 1.8v CAS3.

The board was extremely temperamental when it came to booting up. At stock, it would sometimes boot up with only one dimm, other times 2 dimms would be fine. Other times, I'd need to reset the cmos even if defaults were already loaded in the bios and use one stick just to get it to boot.

Boot ups were also sporadic; you couldn't count on it booting up consistently at settings that you'd previously booted at. Also, often it would power up and down several times before it booted up, this could be up to 4 or 5 times.

I've had these issues with all the bioses I've tried (F2, F3a, F3c, F3d, F3e, F3g) and I'm not impressed. I'm afraid I can't really offer a solution to your problem, persistence seems to be the key with this board, but it may be of some consolation so know you're not alone in getting messed around by this board. :)

Geil RAM is 'loaded on the Van' so should be here some time today.
Will post result. Will also install Floppy to update Bios from F2 if any issues with Geil.
If all else fails then might just shoot myself or buy a DELL. (Don't know which is worse)

I feel your pain dude. I've had such terrible QC problems with Gigabyte in the past that I vowed never to use their products ever again. I'm already on my second conroe motherboard. The badaxe had a lousy bios and was really flakey, so that went back. The Asus I have now has serious problems too & they have just been taken over by Gigabyte, so no more Asus ever again now. :p

Now I'm waiting for the DFI Lanparty & I wish they'd hurry up. :(

I Can't Believe it!

Just got 2 x Geil 2GB (2 x 1gb) PC6400 800MHz Ultra Low Latency Dual Channel Kit
Put in 1 stick and the mobo did POST. :)
Pushed my luck to 2 Sticks and same thing :p
Pushed my luck even more to 4 sticks and it came up OK. :D
Since I had no disks installed yet, I connected a floppy drive and booted up with a DOS system disk.
How about MSDOS running on 4GB RAM :o
The DQ6 is still on the delivered Bios F2 with all settings at default including memory voltage.
Now to try for XP

Probs with QFLASH

Can anyone help.
Downloaded the F3 bios from Gigabyte's site and the filename is
motherboard_bios_ga-965p-dq6_f3.exe
When I copy this to a floppy and try to 'update main bios' using the Q-Flash utility (F8) in the bios, I get an error saying - 'Wrong FIle Size'
If I save the current main bios to floppy using same utility I get a file size of 1mb where the F3 file from Gigabyte if 684k. Clearly a very different size.
I wonder if the new file is for windows and I need a different file for Q-Flash
Can Anyone help?
I hope I haven't wasted a fiver on a floppy drive!
