Dracula | Teaser Trailer - BBC

Wonder if it'll be as 'dark' as the trailer tries making the show look, hopefully it is but with Moffat involved it may be more like Dr Who villain :(

Was pretty hopeful when I saw Mark Gatiss was involved as he's heavily into his horror and has a properly dark mind, but then I noticed Moffat's name and all hope was extinguished. Oh well, despair has its own calms.

Watched the first episode last night, just stumbled on it while channel hopping. Better than I expected it be, quite dark in places while pretty tongue in cheek here and there. A fair nod to the classic "Hammer Horror" Dracula, but different enough to make it entertaining. Some of Dracula's one liners are cringe-worthy, There is a hint of "League of Gentlemen" to it. Dark, yet funny.

It was the nuns bluntness which usually had me cracking up.

Yeah cracking character. While you could see where the plot was going from the off for some of it. There were some clever twists. the remaining episodes are on tonight and Friday.

Just watched the first episode. Way better than I thought, the ads look a bit campy, but it was more adult than I thought it would be. Time to que up episode 2 in 8 minutes!

Just binged on the first 2 episodes , its pretty much what you would expect from a Dracula series if Guy Ritchie had directed it.
BBC have redeemed themselves after the abysmal war of the worlds.
The ending of ep 2 was a suprise.

Darn, wasn't too sure about ep 2, but it picked up and had a strong finish. It has potential tp be great overall...but it does take a rather long time to be sure...

I love everything about this... apart from Dracula. Too many 'funny' lines breaking the 4th wall for me; he's too clever and self aware, as if they couldn't quite make their mind up whether he was scary or funny. The plot and atmosphere builds, and then... Bang, there goes another witty interruption to the flow. For me anyway.

But sister Agatha is absolutely compellingly played and has dragged me through so far. I was worried they'd just shoehorned her into episode 2 after discovering she was so popular in early screenings of episode 1, but I was pleased to see her 'Inside No.9' after the rather long, slow build-up.

They're going to have to work hard convincing me about the circumstances around the final scene though. I like twists which you can look back on and think 'oh yes, I should have seen that coming!' This was more your deus ex typewriter, which I'm less impressed by. It was good, but in a bad way.

I'm still going to watch tomorrow though, so it can't be that bad!

Edit: realised what Dracula's accent reminds me of...

I just watched 1 & 2 back to back. Love it. Wtf is that unexpected ending though in episode 2. Should be very interesting!

Yeah. It’ll be interesting to see how they explain why he suddenly slept for 200 years.

I feel like it’s overly long for the sake of talking in several spots (at the gates of the nunnery and around the mast). Overall pretty good. Going to watch the last one tonight.

BBC are on a roll with this and Christmas Carol.

Just watched the last episode. I want my 95 minutes back. Slow, boring, and a rubbish ending. Absolute garbage finale. What a let down from what were otherwise 2 excellent episodes.

I didnt watch the last episode in the end, I was on the fence after the first two episodes, for some reason I got the distinct feeling that the BBC was trying to have Dracula come across like Lucifer (from the show of the same name). Even some of the lines Dracula had , sounded exactly like the sort of thing and manner of speaking, as Lucifer. Weirdly if I closed my eyes I actually visualised Lucifer rather than Dracula at times. The move to the modern at the end of Ep2 just made it feel even more that they were trying for a BBC Lucifer, so I just felt no pull to watch the last episode tonight. Doesnt sound like I missed much though.
