I joined OcUk about a month ago now and thankyou all for being so kind and responding to all my questions. By far the best forums I have ever joined for anything and I am very happy for that so Thankyou again :)

However, I still have more questions lol. I've been researching a lot of the past month what would be a good specced build (trying to go for price - performance ratio but ive also included personal taste to a degree)

Spec I have been heavily considering Is:

Asus Crosshair Formula IV Motherboard
AMD Phenom II x6 1090T
Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold 1000W/1200W
OCZ Vertex 2E 120GB SSD
Samsung Spinpoint F4 2TB HDD
Prolimatech Megahalems Rev B
AM2 Retention Kit for Megahalems
2x Asaka 120mm Ultra Quiet Viper Fans
Windows 7 Premium Home Edition (Retail)
2x HIS ATI Radeon HD 5970

The Parts which I already have are:

Coolermaster HAF X (arrived today and what a beauty it is)
Corsair Dominator 8GB Ram Dual Channel 1600MHZ

Im planning on purchasing the parts I need about a week from now So according to the pattern the x6 cpu should be on the weekly offer and hopefully the GPU's will be too.

Now the questions I have are is this a solid build? any recommendations for change? (I am quite happy with what I've seen from the 1090T and also the asus crosshair. I do know that the Crosshair is quite expensive for an AMD Mobo but it seems to be the best performing (and personal taste; Best Looking) Mobo for AMD3).

I am also unsure about the 5970 as it will come down in price so maybe to purchase one for now? or go for a different graphics card alltogether?

Also If i were to purchase this spec is the 1000/1200W sufficient power?

I also have a question with this spec would it be adviseable to purchase a second top 200mm fan for the coolermaster HAF X case for extra exhaust?

I aim to build a system where in 3-4 years it will be able to play any game without any problems and primarily for it to keep up with my degree I will be starting in a month (Computer Science for Games) so I would like for the Computer to be able to keep up with the changes as best as it can do.

Thanks again all :)

Mehmet

Do not buy 2 full price 5970s now! New cards are rumoured to be released in November so the price will come down soon. Also unless your gaming at greater than 2560x1620 that is total overkill. You will probably find a lot of people selling their current cards soon enough in anticipation of something new.

In any situation when considering a second gfx card why not buy one first, see if it's enough and then add the second if necessary.

According to guru3d one 5970 draws 438watts and to add another card u need to add 294watts - http://www.guru3d.com/article/radeon-hd-5970-review-test/10

That is a very good point Creed, should have considered that first... lol Cant help myself just see something shiney and go "ooo".

I forgot to mention That i Am considering an Eyefinity setup but this wont be happening anyway until the earliest sometime in early 2011.

Also another question as this is my first build, Any advice about the build itself?

Thanks again

Mehmet

Thats a v nice spec but not even remotely what Id call a good price/performance ratio, youre buying top end everythign pretty much
Agree with creed re gfx, but if it were me and youre wanting price/performance ratio Id scrap most of what you have n start again (see the middle build in the thread in my sig/at top of page), but if you can afford it go for it

Thanks for the replies :)

incubation - For the moment 1 Monitor at max res poss but 3 monitors in early 2011 at max res as would like to keep up with Games as it does revolve around my course after all.

95thrifles - That is very true. Sorry for the bad use of price/performance. But yes Im trying to get as good of a PC while I have the extra cash to hand as when i start Uni, i really doubt Il have very much spare.

Thanks

Mehmet
