Hi All,

I was browsing for a new gaming PC and thinking about what I want to build and to what specification. I have built one before and it lasted me 8 years, so I'm very much pro spending a little more in order to future-proof, but I'm happy for OC to put it all together for me as I trust then more than myself these days. Budget is roughly 2k including a monitor, but can stretch up to 2.5k to accommodate more future proofing. I'm pretty much basing this pricing on the Refract Azure more than anything else as I haven't kept up with the latest on components and the latest hotness for PC building.

In terms of specs/wishlist/aspirations -
  • I'd like to run BG3 at 1440p/60 minimum, but can go up to 120 FPS
  • I also am a big CIV fan, so anything that can handle the next CIV game (not yet announced) well (ie CPU power more so than graphical fidelity)
  • In terms of other AAA PC games, I'm not looking for it to run Starfield at 1440/120, and don't necessarily play many AAA games on release, but I will be preordering TES6, but lord knows what the requirements are for that.
  • Not interested in streaming or anything else beyond gaming really. Potential photoshop but I have a macbook for that primarily.
  • Games will be run on a 27" monitor in a relatively small room. Some light research has pointed me to LG 27" 27GR75Q-B 2560x1440 IPS 165Hz as a respectable monitor, but again open to suggestions!
  • Aesthetically I am quite taken with the Fractal Design North Charcoal Black or Chalk for that matter and I'm not too hot on having Neon LEDs inside the tower, but open to stylish suggestions to compliment it
  • I already have a mouse and keyboard, so just tower and monitor recommendations are welcomed!

I think that's all, I've tried to be as comprehensive as possible, and I believe this is the correct forum as I'm happy to source everything from OC. Thanks in anticipation!

As a minimum for 1440p, I'd look at something like this (note my changes to the base spec):

My basket at OcUK:
  • 1 x OcUK Gaming Oxygen - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, GeForce RTX 4060Ti Gaming PC (SKU: FS-1BZ-OG) = £1,259.13
    • Case: 1 x SYSTEM OFFER - APNX Creator C1 Blue Mist Limited Edition Mid Tower Case
    • Memory: 1 x Kingston FURY Beast EXPO 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 PC5-48000C36 6000MHz Dual Channel Kit (KF560C36BBEK2-32)
    • Graphics Card: 1 x SAPPHIRE NITRO+ AMD Radeon™ RX 7700 XT Gaming Graphics Card with 12GB GDDR6, AMD RDNA™ 3 architecture
    • M.2 Solid State Drive: 1 x WD Black SN770 2TB SSD M.2 2280 NVME PCI-E Gen4 Solid State Drive (WDS200T3X0E)
    • Operating System: 1 x Build Stock Microsoft Windows 11 Home Advanced - Systems

Total: £1,489.12 (includes delivery: £0.00)

Here's a self-build:

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £2,017.91 (includes delivery: £0.00)

I assumed you use the CPU cooler in the CPU box.

A bit more memory than 32GB, just for strategy type games like CIV.

I'd recommend spending a bit more for the 4070 Ti Super, or consider the 7900 GRE:
