Draggin Jeans - Any good?

As the traffic in Bristol isn't great I often want to just jump on the bike and nip into town rather than take the car and sit in traffic. Naturally I'm a good boy and put all my protective stuff on but I'm not a fan of having to walk around in all my gear in town, especially not when the weather gets a bit warmer.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience of Draggin jeans or similar as they seem to be a decent enough compromise. The YouTube videos seem to indicate that they'd be ok in a spill but what are they like to walk around in? Are they bulky and cumbersome or do they just feel like regular jeans?

I have a pair of Draggin jeans (combat style) and Hood jeans. I would say the Hood feel stronger. Although with both makes the armour inserts make them a little uncomfortable.

I wear a pair in summer with my leather jacket. Mainly just for the commute to work. I still wear my FT Raptor trousers for ride-outs. And in winter for the thermal lining ;)

They are a bit thicker around the rear n thighs, but I wouldn't say overly cumbersome no. I wear them throughout the day once I've arrived at work.

I can't say how well they hold up in a crash *touch wood*. Impact protection probably isn't great with there being no armor. They should hold up to a good slide though :)

I have a pair of HooD jeans and a pair of Aussie Biker jeans. Of the two I prefer the Aussie Biker jeans and they were a hell of a lot cheaper on ebay than HooD or Draggin.

Sounds like jeans of some sort are gonna be ok, are Draggin worth the extra money or are RST/Aussie just as good quality?

I never had the chance to test my Draggins out (by falling off), they felt good n sturdy though and I had some good use out of them. They were very hot and quite uncomfy to wear out and about in summer (I'd ride to Uni and keep them on whilst there for a few hours a day). Would probably try another brand now though as the fit wasn't great (might have something to do with me getting fat though).

I had my Draggin jeans on last October when I had a nasty tankslapper. They held up very well both at high speed along the tarmac and then going through all the loose stones at the side of the road (A406 / North Circular).

Parts of the denim have been torn through but the kevlar areas are intact.

From looking around - the Aussie ones have more kevlar on the rear areas but are hotter to wear off the bike, Draggin are good but for me sizing was an issue as couldnt get the right waist/leg/thigh right, RST are about the same price as Aussie ones but i found the denim way softer and I can wear mine off bike with knee and hip armour and be comfy.
Best bet would be head to J & S or George Whites etc etc and try them all on.

Just to say I have a pair of Kyrano jeans (sister company of Hood) as I wanted a fully line pair rather than just kevlar patches. Not cheap, or that cold off the bike, but plenty of quality and great customer service, even got them to sew in a zip to connect them to my jacket.

They are thicker which is better to start riding earlier, but off the bike in summer they can be a bit much.

After a lot of research i grabbed myself a pair of hood H2 jeans & have to say im very pleased with them.

What are they like for sizes? I'm normally about 32-34" waist with 34" inside leg. Should I get 36" waist to allow for the extra padding and stuff?

I ordered a size bigger but had to send them back. My normal size was ideal.

From the Hood website:

With the above in mind we normally advise customers to order the size jean that they usually wear. The jeans already have room allowed for the armour and lining, therefore there is no need to go up a size.

Available around the web for around £100-£120 and seem to be a little more up to date in regards to fashion. I'll trundle through some reviews.

I picked up my leathers today. They fit well and can't fault them but wearing the leather jeans for slow rides around town I can't really justify due to having quite large legs I don't even have room to sweat in them. I know they will give with time though but I think kevlar jeans are a bit more practical.

just to quote myself from the armoured jeans thread...

I wear draggins most of the time, however I have just learnt that ambulances don't carry shears to cut through kevlar. If they need to get your clobber off they have to take it off the hard and painful way, its making me reconsider.

To my mind there is no such thing as a slow ride. Even just nipping into town there are always opportunities to burst up to 50mph :) And it's around town/ junctions etc you are more likely to come off.

^ That said, I wouldn't mind getting some armoured jeans myself and will accept the risks. Hopefully will get a pair shortly.

Aye, what I meant was that I won't be thundering down the outside lane of the motorway north of 70mph.

I ordered some last night so will post up thoughts & impressions when they arrive.

The most difficult thing I found is finding a pair that don't look horribly dated! The Hornee claim to be almost 300% stronger than other kevlar jeans on the market and from the images on their site don't give the impression the fashion police will be on my tail.
