Dragon Age 2 - * Official *

Combat on the PC works the same way as Origins did, they have just sped up and improved the animations. It is not a hack and slash game. On consoles, they have given the player the option to have the auto attack feature switched off, so it can feel more hack and slash if you want (although the damage and speed of attack is the same as with auto, so I don't see the point personally.)

Have you tried contacting them? Mine worked fine.

I had the same issue and I contacted them them via the EA live chat they authorised it all. I got it from the EA store.

A mate with the boxed version installed his a week or two ago and it was all dandy.

I think the issue is with the DAupdater, check to see if that is in your install directory, I'm not 100% sure, though.

because their system is crap, its authorized on their website when i log in but when i launch the game and log in, it's still unauthorized so i cannot access it.

That happened to me after I'd moved my steam folder to another drive, if I remember rightly I had to re-direct the links in the registry, but it was a long time ago. Might be worth a look.

DAUpdater rings a very loud bell. I think I had to manually change the registry to point at it correctly.

Their were problems with closing, in DA you could end up kited or in a no-mans land with things dying before you got into the right position, at least it was far more noticeable with my rogue. The pathing and positioning was a tad ropey, they seem to have fixed that and it looks great.

Underneath that it all seems the same, the tactical view of the camera works differently, but even on the harder settings, i didn't need to use it, so I'm not so concerned about it.

Hopefully the closing attacks will help with things like that. I personally found the camera worked best at all the way back, but just before tactical view as you could see and aim further. Looks like BioWare agree with me, but I can see why some people would prefer to stick with what they know.

Just hope they get the balancing right, after a few tricky bits early on in Origins it was pretty easy to just steamroll through the rest of the game (played it on hard) without even thinking.

oh crap, dragon age 2 is already upon us. i still got to start & finish the first one along with other few thousand games from steam xmas sales :O

Looks like it REQUIRES an internet connection every time you launch, not just for an initial activation.

We'll just have to wait and see exactly how it works. Sucks if it does require an internet connection to play - that's just one step below the Ubisoft DRM, and is in fact the same as the revised Ubisoft DRM they patched into Assassin's Creed 2.

Not really acceptable. Mind you Dragon Age did go wrong if your internet connection dropped during play - I had to replay several hours of gameplay due to a bug caused by DLC breaking when my internet went down.
