Dragon Age origins [HD video]

Agreed, I have had the "Bioware Edition" of Dragon Age preordered since January. Was not thrilled about the decision to hold it back from March to September, which though they denied it, was to release the PC and consoles together. Hopefully the PC version will come out polished even more with the extra time.

The fire cyclone effect looked great and the cone of fire effect also. The rest of the combat looked pretty dull though. It just seemed each weapon swing was pretty slow and not much character reaction to being hit.

Still be getting it obviously but meh, I didn't think it was that great a video.

edit: oh wait I watched the pure gameplay video without the interview, I'll find the link.

Hmm can't find the bigger version I orginally saw, but found this one

That would be quite funny if the game they started to preview as a PC only title several years ago ended up console only :D

The PC version was reported to have been pretty much finished the first of this year. EA's marketing is why the game was said to be held back, for a simultaneous release. Hopefully with all the talk of being the spiritual successor to Baldur's Gate 2 (HUGE shoes to fill) it won't be relegated to being simplistic and linear and the PC version should still be mod friendly .

Whether it is the cross platform games being dumbed down for the console hardware or for the ADHD console audience, the resulting titles are generally mediocre at best. CRPG players expect a lot more than 342 minutes of cheesy FMV and 8 minutes of anime style combat.

The legendary Black Isle WOULD have delivered a masterpiece, Bioware, eh, they have proven talent, we will know by the end of the year whether EA has ruined another class developer or not.

Based on the 2 videos in this thread.

Few issues i have, repetitive combat animations, the mages generic casting animation, thrusting the staff forward and in the air and the warriors 3 animations of swinging his sword, does he not know how to use a shield?.

Then the generic mob death animation number 1, they just fall back, scripted. I'm sorry but in 2009 we kinda expect physics as standard.

Also when the mage casted that huge flame tornado on the fence and walls, why didnt they set on fire? Was it some kind of imba wood?

Also showing that questline to me, feels like the entire game is based around it, he said "if you get better equipment you'll make your troops better" sounds to me like the quest line will be "there going to attack anyday now" coulpe of days worth of questing later and getting gear you come back and speak to the mayor and oh there attacking now, game finished.

Or it'll be a bit like Mass Effect, Main quest line is very short, but the side quests make it longer. If thats the case, then RPG's have taken a step very far backwards. Main quests need to be epic in length, with lots of depth and story.

When the mayor was speaking to what seemed like the PC, the dialoge box opened up, looked like one of the 5 choices was pressed, but the PC never spoke, never moved his mouth, must have communicated telepathically.

Graphics look very nice, Bioware have always been a great company to me, but sadly i think this game may dissapoint a lot of people.

I want this game to be amazing, i love bioware, but i have a lot of problems with this game from just 2 videos.
