I just bought myself Dragonage: origins and I've noticed there's a lot of expansions. If I buy them do they just integrate into the main story like Fallout 3's expansions? Or is it a case of having to select awakening, etc at the title screen.

With it being my first run through, I thought I'd get all the expansions and make the world as vast as possible, Rather than running through it Vanilla. But it would be pointless to do so if its not integrated and means selecting an expansion at the start

Dragon Age: Origins – The Stone Prisoner
Dragon Age: Origins – Warden's Keep
Dragon Age: Origins – Return to Ostagar

Those integrate in to Origins. The others are all separate chapters that can mostly be played at any time (though Witch Hunt should be played last, after Awakening)

The only expansion is awakening, the others are dlc which can be finished in 1-2 hours each. The Stone Prisoner os slightly different in that it gives a new character which can be used in your party for the whole game.

Thanks :) I have to say....Its a good game, but the combat.... There's So much choice during battle, so many characters to control and a tactics sub screen on top. I can imagine it's not so bad once you've played a while, But right off the bat.... Its complicated. And I've played Mass effect through loads so i expected to be fine playing this. But for some reason I'm finding it somewhat daunting = \

My favourite game ever, love it so much, completed it *so* many times.

Dual wielding Warrior is easiest class by the way :)

haha, I love Dual Wielding in any game its available. It is what I am at the moment, Elf warrior with Dual wield. Currently a Borrowed longsword and an enchanted dagger :p Also, the combat system is getting a little bit better as I go along. I havent really gone in depth with the tactics page yet, I have just used the presets.

I've just fought the giant ogre in the tower and watched the epic battle scene. This game does seem pretty awesome so far.

I had to reformat and lost my mage which I spent forever abuse a free XP glitch to make her lvl 25 :(

Tempted to go again but not sure if I want dual wield or archer....

Jeez, you haven't even really started yet ;)

Archers are fun but terrible until you get scattered shot and even then they're not brilliant.

I remember spending ages doing every single quest on one save only to get stuck in the Alienage in Denerim in a glitch... I was raging *so* badly.

You should have bought the Ultimate Edition. It's only £15 for all formats and includes all the DLC and expansions.

I wish I had :D I got it off games on demand on a whim lol.

Okay. I've put skyrim on the backburner for now(very difficult to do). I really want to play it, but I cant have two massive RPGs like this on the go at once. So I'm going to finish Dragonage origins first.

Now I have a problem, Sten keeps dying on me!!! It's annoying, but I dont want to change, I like my party as it is. Morrigan, Sten and my Dog(who likes to wizz on everything to up some stats). I'm also a dual wielder.

Sten wears the heaviest armours, so i suppose he draws the most aggro. I've got him setup with <50 health use health poultice.

But still, He's always the one I end up having to finish the battle without, and then use an injury kit on. Surely a warrior like him, with a 2handed great sword, and massive armour should be upto the task of staying alive. -_-

Sten is technically the worst character because he can only have one specialisation rather than two. Also, two-handed warriors absolutely suck in the first DA:O, probably more so than archers. You ideally want your tank to be sword and shield like Alistair as, with the right talents, they take so much less damage than anyone else. However, if you still want to keep the same party have Morrigan's tactics set to heal Sten when he goes below 75% and try to use more crowd control, stuns, paralysis etc. to minimise the amount of damage he takes.

Sten is not a tank :)
He's DPS.
Like Stewy said, Alistair is the best choice for tank.
If you buy the Stone Prisoner DLC though, you'll get the best tank in the game.

Haha yeah. He was a damn good tank though. I usually went with Alistair on my Rogue playthrough as he was mildly amusing.

I'm being stubborn and sticking with my current team =P I've sort of sorted him dying, He used potions on himself more often, and i have my morrigan as a healer now. Although she's custom so does damage dealing too.

I have to say, I'm in love with this game... Wish I'd bought it along time ago.

What I really like is that fact I get to go from one epic game to another. This till completion(including awakening) and then onto skyrim on PC!! :D:D

Awakening is quite a fun an expansion if you've got it, less epic though and a lot easier as all classes get really op spells :p

Shale is female :p

And I always use her as off-tank/dps, with Alistair as MT, awesome combo
