They are making an animated series

Its got LOADS of known actors doing the voices:

Jack B... Keifer Sutherland is doing the voice of Raistlin, Michael Rosenbaum (Lex from smallville) is Tanis and Michelle Trachtenberg is Tika (Dawn from Buffy).... the list goes on!

Looks like dated for 2007:

fantastic news :D :D

the dragonlance series was excellent, well, the origional ones anyway. they set me up for the forgotten realms titles.

reminds me of the old days of d'n'd pnp..*nostalgic sigh*

Hmm...only seems to do voices...means shes probably ugly :(

Or she's very good at doing voices :) (and doesn't want to move to near a TV or film studio to get more work in TV/films)

Some of the best voice talent on the planet almost never do anything that gets their face on film, or are mainly theater actors, remember IMDB only covers tv/film/games work, not theater etc.

Its such a shame there's so many books in this. I get lost as to who is what and where :/

The couple I read as standalone novels were OK, but I couldn't commit to reading the lot.

I've read the original trilogy and time of the twins trilogy... cant remember if i have read any more than that. Need to read them again actually.

i'm about 8 books in, and loving it :D

Everytime I read one of your posts takhisis it makes me want to go read again, even if you have abandoned the world and your forces renamed to the knights of neraka :p

hopefully this animated stuff will be half decent and not a hash :)

Tom.

Only six you need to bother with in my opinion - The Chronicles and Legends trilogies. They're seminal fantasy novels. The rest of the DL books I could leave tbh.

Those six are some of my favourite books ever - just realised how old they are now, 22 years! Must've first read them when I was about 13-14 and then re-read every 5 years or so since.

There's one bit that still brings a tear to my eye (won't spoil it for those who haven't read it, but Fizban is there to console the person most upset by it).

Don't know if I'd want to watch a cartoon - I have such a distinct image in my head of all the characters that any other interpretation would be sacrilige.

You read the other Weis and Hickman books? The ones with Fizban popping up in? A bit Kevin Smith reusing characters :p Very cool imo.

I've read the first two Chronicles and got waylaid in the middle of the third so I've forgotten what's going on now. Haven't they recently released a new trilogy?

Just going off topic for a second - does anyone know if Patrick Tilley's Amtrak Wars ever got near the big screen? I remember some Australian company were going to tackle it but they seemed to have disappeared off the radar completely.

Heh you mean Zifnab? ;)

I do like their books, been a long time since I read the Dragonlance books but have been reading their latest work.

Can't wait to check out this animated series, I hope it's good.

Interesting its going to be a cartoon. Makes me think of the old dungeons and dragons cartoon. (though hopefully it will bew a bit better than those ;) )

I liked the first few I read, but I think there were too many authors, and some that I liked... most I didn't.

I think my favourite ones were "The Meetings Sextet" and the Twins trilogy

Weis and Hickman had the best writing style IMO.

OMG OMG OMG (/geek mode)

I LOVED DragonLance! I can't believe they are going to make a cartoon of it! Always wanted them to make a film... I guess a cartoon is a start.

Raistlin was the coolest, and definately my personal role model when a teenager - he's the perfect evil wizard :D Can't wait!!!

Exactly the first thing that came to my mind when I read the OP. Surely they couldn't make anything as bad as that cartoon ever again??

At least they won't have an annoying little unicorn that makes you just want to throw a brick at the TV... :D

Same here, i actually still have quite a few of the dragonlance books sitting in my attic. Excellent series of books but too many to get through.

/me reminds oneself to go up into the attic and get them out.

Lucy "Xena warrior princess" Lawless doing the voice for Goldmoon?? hrmmmmm would have thought she would be more a Kitiara (sp?) role (sister to Raist & Caramon i think)

*evil grin*

Can't imagine my voice sounds anything like Keifer's, though. Matt Damon would have been a better choice. :p
