My new GPU is arriving today and Im taking the GPU out of the loop and only having the CPU WC'd (so I can go better on OC).

Now my loop is sufficient, but sadly, I have no idea how to drain the damn thing.

What Im thinking of doing is pulling the pump out and taking off the pipe from the res - pump and letting it drain as much as it can, connecting it back up, twisting the system to get as much back into the res and repeat.

Time isnt an issue, but what Ive said sounds like massive hassle, does anyone have any other recommendations?

Draining is a massive hassle tbh (without a drain port)

The way youve suggested sounds pretty good

Just out of interest, why do you think that removing the gpu will make the cpu clock higher? i thought that would only happen if the WC system was saturated with heat

personally i'd have gotten a new block with this new card so you can do a straight swap - no messing with tubing/routes

Well currently I have a slim 280 and a slimish 120 rad, having an OC 2500k and the 6950 in the loop seems abit much (current CPU temps are high 70's during IBT).
My new gpu (HD7870 windforce) has ample cooling on its own, so removing it from the loop and having all WC on the CPU seems to make more sense.
When I get a new case that can fit more/ bigger rads, Ill incorporate the GPU again, but right now it makes more sense, to me, to just have the CPU WC'd.

I do think, however, that I didnt seat the CPU block properly when I first fitted it.
Im not really going for max 24/7 clock as 4ghz is fine for me, I just want to see how far I can push the chip, plus cooler operating temps just makes sense.

The new 7870 should be cooler and be less of a drain on the system. Id put it under water looking at your tubing lengths it might not be easy to just rejig. Also pink? sorry but gotta ask lol

Pink wasnt my choice, but oddly goes well :p

The length of pipe from the GPU-res is long enough to go from the 120 rad (on the back) to the res. Ive also got some extra pipe ready as it needs a change, I think the pink has slightly dyed the pipe :(.

I might end up putting it under water sooner then, didnt really think of the lower temps because of the new architecture. See how things go anyway, Ive got some things coming up that will need the GPU to be removed a couple of time, might put it back under water after that period.
