Specs :
AMD Athlon X2 5600+ STOCK (Brisbane)
2x1Gb Corsair XMS2 DDR2 800Mhz Ram (4-4-4-12)
GA-MA770-DS3 Motherboard

(The RAM is running at 2.1v by default and required no Voltage adjustment when i installed them)

Problem :

Well i've just opened up CPUZ and had a little look around, and came across my DRAM frequency being at 364Mhz instead of the 400Mhz (DDR2) it is advertised at. I figured this was something to do with my CPU but what puzzles me is that, yesterday my DRAM Frequency was at 400Mhz and not 364Mhz, so how would it just change by itself? and how do i get my RAM back to working at 400Mhz?

As said, i have done no overclocking what so ever, i haven't been snooping around in the BIOS or anything like that.

CPU-Z Screenies.

looking at cpu-z the ram is running "cpu/8" that simply means its the final clockspeed divided by 8. (2913/8=364.125) If you were to lower that to cpu/7 the ram would run at 414mhz. This would very probably be ok but because your motherboards memory setting are at AUTO it craps it and decides that it cant run that fast and so goes with the next divider down which is what you are seeing. It's the 14.5 multi thats to blame. I think those CPUs used to be x14 (x200=2800/7=400mhz. Easy)

You have 2 choices really. either change the memory from AUTO to MANUAL and then set it to run at 414mhz which should be fine OR have a play with overclocking :D

Although you would have to reach 3200mhz with that CPU for cpu/8 to = 400mhz and i have no idea how good those CPUs are meant to be in that department

So would i have to lower the multi to 14x giving me 2.8Ghz?, ive never overclocked before as you could probably tell but i'd be willing to give it a shot. How would i go about overclocking my cpu around 100mhz?, would it give any better results?

edit: Sorry, just read it again, makes sense now :P
