I have geil 2gb value ram. Using a asus a8v deluxe rev 2.0 mb. What should the dram idle time setting be as it is currently at 16 using auto in bios. My other settings are 2.5,3,3,7 and the trc is 10 (3,7 combined aint it, to make the 10 for trc)

Reason i ask about dram idle timing. Is that i see other peoples settings in cpuz and they either have higher by a lot sometimes and woundering if mine is set for best performance?

Also heard something about setting to infinate (0) if 1gb ram or more or somit. So im confused as to what it should be.

Looked there but i didnt find what setting to use.
its the bit about Idle Cycle Limit,
my original setting (Dfi mobo) was left at Auto which defaults to 256 which is probably why you are seeing other peoples way higher than yours but apparently lower is better (i have dropped mine to 32)
as you have yours at 16 with no probs i would probaly leave it at that, i will try & drop mine to 16 also now as i have the geil ram also & at same settings as you
i didnt try 16 immediately as after i read the info on that link it suggested that only top ram would run at that (mind you i may have missread it as i had a 'few' beers beforehand :D

edit: i have copied the bit from that link that seems to be the bit your after :-

Idle Cycle Limit

Settings = Auto, 0-256 in varied increments.

From the DFI BIOS: “This BIOS setting specifies the number of memclocks before forcibly closing (pre-charging) an open page.” It appears that this setting is the maximum number of tries allowed for a page of memory to be read before arbitration kicks in and forces pre-charge once again for that page.

Slight Influence on Bandwidth/Larger Influence on Stability.

Suggested Settings for DFI: The Auto setting defaults to 256 clocks which seems to be overkill. If your RAM is lower grade----then I would stay with Auto. If your RAM is a step up, I would try 16-32 clocks. I had good luck with 16 clocks on BH-5. (Lower = Faster)
