Hi all
I'm at 170lbs (5'10") and I want to get down to 165 in 5 weeks with minimal cardio (1/2 hr cycling 5 days per week).
I've been looking at the South Beach diet as a (very) short term measure. Forgetting the buzzwords for a second, it basically suggests eating minimal carbs and good fats, all low GI food, as opposed to Atkin's, which is basically no carbs but any fat you like.
Who's tried this and does anyone have any opinions on me trying this to shed the last bit of tummy fat before I go on hol?
Let me say as a form of disclaimer, that I know that such diets are not healthy in the long term. I've been eating properly for a year now, by which I mean cutting out sugar, crisps and reducing booze and replacing 'white' carbs with wholemeal bread, wild rice etc. I'm looking for some extremely dramatic fat losses in a month, simple as that.
