Drawing a Map to Scale

Hi,

Is their a good program on the market which would enable me to draw road plans to scale?

I have been asked to draw some road plans, which must be to scale!

I have done some recently using visio, but they did not need to be to scale. Is their a plugin I can purchase for visio, which will asst me in drawing a plan and then of a click of a button, set it to scale?

Recommend me a better program, please do

You need some sort of CAD or possibly a GIS package.

The latter are generally very expensive, some of the lower end versions of AutoCAD are not so bad.

Visio can be used to set to scale quite easily. I have used it many times to do garden and room plans for my parents for their house.

It depends if you need geometry sections for TD9/TD27 or just a map.

I would try http://www.buchanancomputing.net, we use sign plot and the highway mapping is good. The problem with scale drawings is not the package but the printer; most, if not all inkjets will be out of scale and so will a lot of laser printers.

Who do you need it for?
