Hi

I am looking at purchasing a Draytek 2820n, does anyone have any experience with these and whether they would be any good? I am thinking of using it for wireless streaming, has anyone tried this with one? Also your mini reviews would be helpful :)

Cheers

Not that particular model but I've got about a dozen of their 3300 and 2930 ones dotted around all over the place with VPN tunnels running between them.

So far been very reliable, the software on them is certainly a lot better than it used to be from the older 2600 series etc.

I'd check with the wireless, there have been reports about compatibility issues between the DrayTek and Apple laptops in particular.

Any reason why you want such a feature rich router? There are cheaper alternatives out there to get 802.11n if that is all you are after - after all why pay for some fairly advanced features that you will probably never need.

On the whole though I can't really fault them. Would use Cisco or Juniper if the client could afford the extra, but as they were on a budget these were perfectly adequate.

No experience of the 2820n, but I have had a number of Vigor/Draytek modems and never had any trouble with them.

Incidentally, have you had a look at their UK support site which you should be able to find if you google "VIGOR"?

Router is fine but will lose you speed on ADSL2 connections.

I took one home from work to test with my BE line and it still lost me around 1mbit out of my 17-18 I could get at home over my regular crappy BE box.
