Do these routers allow you to create a decent amount of incoming and outgoing firewall rules, or are they limited to a weak 10 like on most adsl routers?

They sure can. Choose 'NAT' from the menu, then 'Open Ports' and you can create up to 10 rules per entry (10 entries) = 100
