Ive read somewhere that you can get firware for the abopve router that is better for longlines, anyone know where i can get hold of these and which one is the best? Also is there any modded firmware like the Tomato for the Linksys routers?

Thanks, Ben

The is a firmware for flaky lines for draytek's I seem to remember, check their website or contact support.
I used to deal with 100's of these routers in a previous job. Unfortunately I was not impressed :(

You want to look for the firmware with a UK2 tag on the file name. I use it on the 2600G at my parents house and it did certainly help stability and even got a slightly better sync speed out of it :)

Their line is around 5.8Km long and its pretty crap cable too by all accounts.

EDIT-

Just had a poke around DrayTek's FTP for you and I cant find the one I'm running, fire off an e-mail to their tech support they are normally pretty helpful and will send you a link or the files directly :)

Ive found it, written in the readme of the normal version its says copy the link but put uk2 on the filename to download that version, ive got it but when trying to flash it using the Router tools, it says Connection timed out or similar every time :(

I got this with a couple of draytek 2800's just in the last few days. Never could figure it out. I can't be bothered since it's a saturday, but if you fire off an email to their tech support, will you forward the reply to me :p

Sure, ill email them later today.

are you using vista by chance? if you are, you need to turn off windows firewall before you can use the update tools, PITA as we sell Drayteks at work and I have to do this on my laptop every time I update them.

Must try this. I thought running as administrator would be enough.
Cheers :)

Tried as suggested and the Firmware upgrade worked, the UK2 firmware is much better seems stable(Judging by the stats), only used it for about 30seconds tho :D

any links to this firmware?

recently acquired a 2600VG for my mum's house, she gets around 380-900kb/s on different routers, hoping i can get this stable :)

Has anyone got their 2600G above around 2.5Mbps throughput (not sync speed)? Mine (don't know if it was UK or UK2 as I got the firmware direct form support) maxed out at about that rate even though I could get reliable sync above 6Mbps. Does the UK2 firmware help?

PS - I eventually upgraded to a 2800VG. Sync rate went up 0.5Mbps and I got the full benefit, but I still have the 2600G and it would be good to give it 'go faster' stripes.
