Hi I am upgrading from an old 2010 mini mac which can no longer cope with the graphics in Second Life.
See I am not a proper gamer, but I want something that could cope with developments over the next 5 years.
I need something light & very portable, that will fit in my rucksack, along with lots of other stuff inc food, shoes, & clothes etc etc As I spend up to 12 days a month away from home.

I like the look of both Zotac Magnus 1060 and 1070 Barebones systems. I dream of the 1070, but the 1060 has had some good press.

Is the 1070 worth getting over the 1060. I could prehaps afford to get more ram for the 1060.
Any recommendations regards ram 16 or 32gb. Atm i can only see the 1060 on sale at overclockers.

I am a technodummy...before having a nice little mac for 7 years ..I used to run linux ..geubuntu was my fave, tried so many OS's in the past ...loved BeOS ...anyways i forgotten how you install an OS prob ubuntu on a system with no CD drawer. I know its simple but I have forgotten.

If all you're playing is second life then you'll likely be fine with the 1060 based on the specs being listed on their website although obviously can't say for certain as I haven't played second life.
The 1060 is comparable to the 980 in a lot of cases and it's not going to be a slouch unless you intend to play at high resolutions like 4k for most games.

As to installing an os without a cd drive, usb stick installers which should have downloads available for most linux distros and windows 10 also has the same option available via their download tool :)

Windows 10 and any major Unix/BSD distro have a lovely interface during set up. I agree with the 1060 model.
