One for retro fans, but I have put a little stand in my home office with a few of my consoles in it together with my new Framemeister! I plugged in my Dreamcast this week, but I have lost/misplaced/eaten the memory controllers that fit into the controllers and it seems that my controllers are not working. Remind me any Dreamcast'ers....do I need this and or batteries in the controllers to work, as I have slept since the last time I used it (read forgot)?

No batteries required, they should just work.
Even the save devices (VMU's) work as save devices without batteries, batteries are only needed when using the VMU for playing games, etc.
