Dreamfall+Starforce?

Ive just bought Dreamfall: The Longest Journey, and subsequently read a load of things online about Starforce screwing up CD drives etc. Am I OK to run this, or is it just not worth the risk?

some versions of starforce mess up drives because they installed a rootkit type application to check that it was a real dvd/cd drive and not a virtual drive or copied cd
I've had it mess up my system once before but was easily resolved by a quick google

should have got the STEAM version - no starforce on that , bought it the other day myself.

A high-street retailer has the Collectors Edition at a very tempting price - £15 or £12.50 if you buy another special offer game. Comes with Dreamfall, plus the original TLJ, a hardback art book and orchestral CD. I bought this along with Jade Empire Special Edition (inc tin box) for £25.

I think starforce is only installed after you try to run the game the first time.

If you install then update using this patch:

http://support.aspyr.com/index.php?x=&mod_id=2&id=429

the game should run without installing starforce, or even needing the CD/DVD.

Hopefully that's the correct file, think I got the patch from somewhere else before but note that this is actually an official patch
