DreamScene Issues

Sorry I should add that a lot of the buginess appears to be caused by Stardocks intentional DRM on the freeware Dreamscene downloads!! The version I use which seems 100% stable for me anyway is: 1.0.2.105

You need to download all 3 versions of the Dreamscenes trial from somewhere else as Stardock only host the newer one which has DRM to stop it running on Home Premium with more than the 3 provided dreams (they want you to purchase the full version for Home Premium which allows more than 3 dreams). I could not get the newest Stardock trial hosted download to run more than the 3 included dreams on either Ultimate or Home Premium so suspect they may have made the whole product something they want you to buy unless you stick to the 3 included dreams.

But if you have one of the older unrestricted trials it seems to be unlimited useage on Ultimate:D

Isn't the one that downloads automatically via Windows Update for Vista Ultimate 64 the version I should have then??

MS do Dreamscapes.

Stardock do Dreamscenes.

Totally different products from different companies!! Dreamscenes IMO is superior in every way.

Vista has DreamScenes not DreamScapes.
Actually Vista can have both. Dreamscenes is obviously the Ultimate Extra. Dreamscapes is a product from Stardock which is superior and able to run on almost all Vista versions.

Below is the Ultimate only version which is free to all Vista Ultimate users and is not DRM restricted to 3 Dreams (important as there are Gbs of amazing Dreamscapes out there now).

The other newer version works on almost all Vista editions (XP is coming as well) but is DRM restricted to only run the 3 included dreams (the Copper Pool Dream included is very nice:D). You have to buy the full product to use this one properly which is why they DRM it (which you can workaround but it makes your system very unstable as you need to modify windows dll files!!).

I'm not the OP with issues BTW (if your meaning me).

I only pointed out what Vista Ult has and does not have out the box. ;)

I ran that nice Orange Flames DreamScene all weekend without issues, I never paused it to game etc. :)

I could actually get used to it, simply makes my GPU temp 2C higher.

didn't mean you :)

i've not tried it for a while, but generally it causes niggly problems and needless load

each post i've seen on here about it, the OP stops using it and their problems go away

As said before - mine only crashes when playing games if it isnt paused before starting them, otherwise works great. Yeah its cosmetic but then I wouldnt drive a Ferrari for its fuel consumption.
