The script for Dredd has been doing the rounds for years, so if anything, The Raid is a copy of Dredd.

I think the trailer looks pretty good for a reasonably low budget Dredd film. You gotta remember this doesn't have the budget of many of the big Hollywood effects movies.

I will be surprised if it does well though, as Dredd just isn't a particularly strong IP outside of the UK, and even here lots of people barely know who he is.

Thankfully the movie is picking up some very positive reviews on the back of its public debut at Comic Con.

It seems it's violent in the extreme!

Lets just hope that it does well so it can have a big budget sequel and Mega City One can be shown to its true potential.

Thanfully this has been picking up positive reviews and certainly doesn't seem to be the dud that a lot of people suspected.

Saw the trailer and it looked rubbish.

If it gets good reviews might go and watch.

Thats what I posted. It IS getting good reviews and very positive comments from Dredd fans that have seen it over on the 2000ad forums.

Interestingly the lower reviews still seem to think the film is really good and ripe for a sequel with an increased budget.

In the Empire podcast, their reviewer who gave it 3/5 says in retrospect and after seeing it again he should probably have given it a 4/5.

Confirmed as No.1 at the weekend box office in the UK.

Thats great news and the positive word of mouth should hopefully only improve its takings in the coming week........certainly a cult classic.

Its is still 100% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes after 33 reviews.

What a shame...Dredd's now has 2 rotten reviews out of 43 on Rotten Tomatoes......but when you look deeper one of them is from Christopher Tookey at the Daily Mail and that tells you all you need to know :)

Although a sequel is extremely unlikely, it seems to be doing very well on blu-ray/DVD. Its currently sitting at No.1 in the bestseller lists of a few well known blu-ray retailers in the US where it was released this week.

Its out next week in the UK, and looks to be having some pretty solid pre-orders over here as well.

So....anyone bidding on Karl Urban's Dredd costume?

Its currently sitting at £7100, with 6 days to go.

Propstore are auctioning 200 items from Dredd over the next couple of weeks.

Rebellion/2000AD have started an official petition to get a sequel. Its got 52000+ signatures so far, so sign up if you are interested.
